A conceptual visual identity for BONS, a home bakery business specializing in sweets with traditional Asian dessert flavors. The bakery is currently on an operational hiatus, but it began as a small business run by a college student on the UC Berkeley campus.
In line with the home-centered identity of the business, brand colors conveying warmth and relaxation were chosen. These colors are applied as gradients across many of the communication materials to further induce a soft and inviting effect.
Meanwhile, the logo, key fonts, and illustrations employ a rounded shape language that adds playfulness to the brand’s relaxed tone. However, the four-pointed star within the letter O of the logo — designed to be reminiscent of scored bread — provides a contrasting sharpness that gives the logo an eye-catching quality.
The illustrations and polaroid photos both function as additional motifs. The use of retro halftone textures, nostalgic film grain, and casual home-centered imagery help emphasize BONS’ passion for everyday joys, and of course, the role that food plays in those moments.
